This photograph is of George Vaugh b1st Mar 1860, his wife Margaret Brakey Vaugh b 1st May
1870 and my great aunt Lilly Adeliade Vaugh b 11th Sep 1895 d 15th Nov 1965. It came to me by
way of Jim, who received it from the granddaughter of George and Margaret. There is another
photograph of Lilly here, where she is pictured with her father George John Vaugh and her younger
brother Cecil George Vaugh.

The family story goes like this, a cousin of Lilly's father came to Ireland from the USA and Lilly
returned with him. Lilly stayed with a family of Vaugh's from Connecticut, more information can be
found on the USA Census page where the various family groups can be seen. Lilly is listed in the a
1920 return. We believe that she married Charles Vaugh from the family she lodged with. They ran
the Dunes Cottages in New Haven, Connecticut.

When Charles died in the 1950's she returned to Ireland and attempted to get my father and his
sister Rita to return to the USA. However as the Korean war was in full swing at this time, Irishmen
were being drafted into the US Army my grand mother wouldn't hear of them going. If he had gone
then none of this would be here ......!!
