"Maps of Ireland, a small selection"

I have in my possession an almost complete set of first edition, one inch to the mile ordnance survey maps for Ireland, date from around 1900. The original survey for this series was undertaken between 1834 and 1840 with revisions from as late as 1899. The maps were printed from 1900 up to 1914.

These have been of immense value to me in my researches. Those of you who are in the know will understand this. These maps are very different to the modern edition and many of the house names on my copies are no longer shown on the current editions. The background to this page is from sheet 67 of 205 and shows, rather poorly, Leitrim village and Battlebridge County Leitrim.
The sheets missing from my collection are mainly from the north and modern copies are readily available, something which cannot be said about the vast majority of sheets covering the rest of Ireland. Though these are becoming more readily available as time goes on.

The links to the maps below are intended for you to download and not view on line, this is why they take you direct to each file and not, as elsewhere on this site, to a page with the picture displayed.

For Microsoft Internet Explorer ver 5 users, right click on the link and choose 'Save Target As ...' For Netscape ver 4.7 users right click on the link and choose 'Save Link As ...' this will save the file to your chosen location.
